Announcing a New Release by McDermott & McGough
Marlborough Graphics is pleased to announce the release of two new large scale-prints by McDermott & McGough. Continuing their work in the medium of photogravure, the artist team has just completed You Seize the Flower III 1890-1900,and Fountain of Apollo.
Fountain of Apollois a complex two-plate print, the image a fountain in the garden of Versailles. The figures in the Fountain of Apolloemerge dramatically from a seemingly edgeless body of water. The landscape behind, partially obscured by haze, has a romantic and timeless quality. Printed in a steel blue ink, the gravure has a certain mystery that captures the eye.
You Seize The Flower III 1890-1900is a large-scale still life of a stunning glass period vase containing a single Calla lily. The velvety background is a striking backdrop to the luminous tones and reflections of the vase. The table cloth, strewn with flowers and other items, calls to mind a turn-of-the-century oil painting.
