Robert Weingarten graduated from Baruch College in 1962 with a degree
in finance. For the next thirty years he would pursue a career in
finance and serve as CEO and Chairman of several financial institutions.
His first and most abiding passion from youth was photography, which he
pursued over all those years, as time would permit. At the age of
54 he decided to become fully committed to his photographic art.
Over the following 9 years his work has been in 50 exhibitions worldwide.
He has earned the distinction Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society
(FRPS) Bath, England, and his images are in the permanent collections
of 15 museums among which are: J. Paul Getty Museum, The Metropolitan
Museum of Art, The Whitney Museum of American Arts, The Los Angeles County
Museum of Art, The George Eastman House, Int’l Museum of Photography,
etc. His landscapes often showcase repetitive natural forms and
magnificent hues. The series “6:30 A.M.,” for which
Weingarten photographed the same view during the year 2003 from his Malibu,
CA home, is a perfect example of this style. The series displays
his ability to evoke a sense of natural superiority reminiscent of the
Hudson River School painters while exhibiting an Impressionistic sensibility.
