BIOGRAPHY

1906 Born on February 22nd, Gee Village (now called Chu Village), Yanglu Town, Kaiping County, Guangdong Province, China.
1921 Immigration to San Francisco to join his father.
1925 Education at California School of Fine Arts, San Francisco (now the San Francisco Art Institute) studies with Otis Oldfield.
1926 Establishes the Modern Gallery on Montgomery Street (later the San Francisco Art Center).
Forms the Chinese Revolutionary Artists’ Club.
Start to develop his theory of Diamondism.
1927 Moves to Paris under the patronage of Prince and Princess Achille Murat
Befriends prominent members of the Parisian avant-garde.
1930 Moves to New York.
1931 His work is included in the exhibition Paintings, Sculpture, and Drawings by American and Foreign Artists at the Brooklyn Museum, NY
1932 Participates in art programs sponsored by the WPA
Work included in Murals by American Painters and Photographers, Museum of Modern Art, New York.
1936 Returns to Paris where his work receives much acclaim and is widely exhibited.
1939 eturns to New York after the outbreak of World War II
1940-62 Has solo exhibitions at major galleries and establishes the Diamondism School of Art.
1941 Teaches painting in WPA class at the Museum of the City of New York
1944 His work is included in Portrait of America at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY
1963 Dies on June 5th, New York City
