Matisse: The Essence of Line, Selected Prints: 1900-1950, Exhibition Catalogue

During his lifetime (1869-1954), Henri Matisse produced over 800 prints in addition to illustrating a number of exquisitely designed livres d’artiste. In this exhibition, one of the first major surveys to take place in New York in many years, over 80 exceptional works are displayed according to technique and chronology, reflecting the concentration on printmaking at certain significant periods during his career. Many rare examples in various graphic media, such as etching, drypoint, woodcut, lithography, linocut and pochoir (stencil), will be included.

The exhibition begins September 12, 2013, at Marlborough Gallery, New York, and continues through October 12; after which it will travel to Marlborough Fine Art, London, from December 4, 2013 - January 11, 2014; and Galería Marlborough, Madrid, in February, 2014- March, 2014.
